Q. My husband and I both suffer from migraines
and depression. Would the pillow pad be the best product for us? Other magnetic
therapy sites recommend North pole as pain reducing and calming. Is this because
we are living in southern hemisphere of the earth?
A. I think the pillow pad would be worth trying
for your headaches, the other product worth considering would be a large power
wrap (contains rare earth magnets ) which is worn around the head ( not the best
look in public but fine around the home ). As to which product would be best
depends on what time of the day you experience the pain i.e.; if you get pain
during the day when you are away from your pillow pad then maybe a more portable
product like the power wrap is the best. Most people experience the best results
using the north pole of magnetic products even those living in the northern
hemisphere, so its not specific to us southerners.
Q. Your website is very interesting but I cannot
see the gauss strength listed for your products. I am interested in the small
discs & bedding.
A. We deliberately leave mention of gauss levels
off our site because it can lead to a lot of confusion and incorrect assumptions
as to what makes a good therapeutic product. Our large mattress mats contain
171 ( 800 -1000 gauss ) ferrite magnets, placed closely so that their
flux pattern overlap to form one large field that is similar to that of a significantly
larger magnet. This long field is capable of penetrating deep into the body.
These magnets are perfectly suited to this application where a much stronger
or bigger magnet would not be. Interestingly, our spots of gold magnets which
are a lot smaller in physical size have a high gauss rating of 3000. These are
made from different elements to ferrite magnets and are commonly called rare
earth magnets. Both types of magnet have their uses depending on the particular
circumstances. With therapeutic products it is often the case that "stronger
is not necessarily better".
Q. I have read that the different sides have
different effects. Can you please tell me which colour side is which pole
- North or South on the magnetic pillow? Which side you should have facing
the head?
A. It is true that the North and South Poles of a magnet have different effects
on the body. It is generally agreed that the North pole (The green side)
has a Stimulating Effect and the South pole (The red side) has a Calming effect.
Our products are colour coded and we guarantee that each and every magnet
is facing its assigned colour. Most people use the North Pole (the
green side) of magnetic therapy products for most applications, however a very
small number of people prefer the South Pole in some situations. The benefit
of colour coding our products is that you can be absolutely sure that you know
which pole of the magnet that you are using. We recommend that you use
the North Pole initially and then experiment with the South Pole if you wish.
