Early Signs of Sclerosis

Have you ever heard about multiple sclerosis? Do, you know about it? It is a seriously disabling disease of the spinal cord and brain that is usually associated with the central nervous system.

More about sclerosis

Basically, in sclerosis, the protective sheath that covers the nerve fibre is attacked by the immune system. Eventually, it causes the communication problem between your brain and rest of all the body. Moreover, sometimes this disease causes permanent deterioration and the damage of the nerves.

What are the signs and symptoms of sclerosis?

Usually, the signs and symptoms are widely depending on the number of nerves that are affected by the immune system. Moreover, those people who are attacked by sclerosis have lost their ability to walk independently. While there is the other class of signs in which a person faces a long period of remission without showing any symptoms. Besides this, there is no cure for sclerosis however, there are some treatments that accelerated the recovery from attacks, modify the reason for the disease and then manage its symptoms.

Anyhow some more visible symptoms are listed below;

Damage of the myelin and the nervous system

As the symptoms and the signs of sclerosis depend on the person to person, and the location of the affected fibers.

Hence, the visible symptoms are on the movement as;

  • Weakness and the numbness in any of your limbs simultaneously that sometimes are visible on the one side at a time, on the trunk or the leg

The course of the disease

Most people have the relapsing-remitting course of the disease. Moreover, they experience the new relapses that develop after some days or weeks. Usually; it improves completely or partially after some time. Moreover, these diseases can last for the months or the years depends on the intensity. Besides this, only a few degrees rise in the body temperature could make the case of sclerosis even worse. However, we can’t count them in the disease relapses. Furthermore, about 60 to 70 percent of the people having a relapsing-remitting problem that can make this case of sclerosis even worse. In addition to this, the symptoms get worse with the problems of gait and mobility. The rates of such problems get varied among the nature of the secondary progressive sclerosis.

Now let’s throw light on the causes of multiple sclerosis. It is also considered as the autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks all of its tissues. Moreover, in the cases of sclerosis, the body’s immune system will destroy the coated fatty substance and also protect the nerve fibers in the spinal cord and brain. For more comprehensive details the melanin could be compared with the coated electric wires. Even when the nerve is damaged then the nerve that delivers the message may be blocked or slowed. Scientists are still confused that why only some peoples are prone to MS and not others. However, other considerations are environmental, and genetics that are considered being responsible for this.

Risk factors

Following are some risk factors that are high lightly involved in the case of the sclerosis

  • Usually, people in the age group of 16 to 55 are sensitive to MS
  • Women are more likely to have MS than men
  • If your parents or siblings have the MS, then maybe you are also affected by this disease
  • Different types of viruses like Epstein-Barr are considered being the real reason for MS

All in all, sclerosis is the disease that needs proper medications and the treatment otherwise it could be fatal for your or your loved one’s life.
